Zinc Die Castings
LINDSAY -- Workers at Lindsay's Armada Toolworks plant could face a lockout as early as Dec. 30 after workers voted 68% in favour of rejecting the company's final offer.
The contract for 146 Armada workers represented by the Canadian Auto Workers Local 222 expired at the end of November.
Armada has filed for a no-board report which would put the company in a legal position to lock out workers as of Dec. 30, according to a news release from the union.
"It has always been the CAW's position to bargain a fair and equitable agreement without an interruption of work," CAW national representative Keith Osborne stated in the release. "We hope the company feels the same way and returns to the bargaining table."
The plant has been in Lindsay for about nine years and makes zinc and aluminum die castings, injection-molded plastics and mechanical assemblies for General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Opel and Volkswagen. The workers joined the CAW in 2004.
